What is the difference between a Netgears S3300 vs M4300 other than the name?

I've used the S3300 pro in the past and love them. They are out of stock everywhere. I see they some sights saying the s3300 is EOL. I'd like to know what is different about the M4300 other than the M4300 being much more expensive. I called Netgear and they had me give a bunch of info only to be contacted by a 3rd party reseller who didn't know a switch from crisco.

Is there another switch I should look at that supports stacking, vlans, POE+ and has a few 10G ports?

According to the current EOL List (Jan2022)  only select S3300 regional SKUs are EOL:

Switches GS728TX GS728TX-100INS 6/1/2021
Switches GS728TX GS728TX-100PRS 9/1/2020

Switches GS728TXP GS728TXP-100PRS 5/1/2019

Switches GS752TX GS752TX-100AJS 11/1/2021
Switches GS752TX GS752TX-100PRS 10/25/2015

Switches GS752TXP GS752TXP-100AJS 11/1/2021
Switches GS752TXP GS752TXP-100INS 2/1/2021
Switches GS752TXP GS752TXP-100PRS 10/25/2015

The US (-100NAS) and European (-100EUS) are not affected - however the order times are long.

@boe

The S3300 are Smart Managed Pro switches and the M4300 series are Fully managed switches.

Fully Managed Switches offer all the features of Smart Managed Plus/Pro switches with additional Layer2 (switching) and Layer 3 (routing) functionality. Advanced Layer 2 features include granular traffic shaping (using ACLs) and scalable deployment options (using L2/L3 DHCP relay agents). Network Access Control offers tiered authentication with 802.1x defaulting on MAB defaulting on captive portal. Advanced Layer 3 features include resilient and load-balanced static routing (all series) or dynamic routing (RIP, VRRP, OSPF, PIM available in some series). Fully Managed switches also provide a command line interface (CLI) that lets network administrators easily configure and deploy these switches in wide-scale enterprise environments. Fully Managed switches most often serve medium-sized networks.

I'll check to see if the supply might still be affected by the pandemic.

In the meantime, please check this link for more information on NETGEAR switches and if you need recommendation a selector is also available.

Hope this helps!

Fantastic - detailed response - thank you so very much!

Any knowledge of a successor to the S3300?  I'd love it if they pretty much made the same model but with some multigigabit ports or 2 more 10G ports.    I'd probably just get an s3300 for this client but one of our suppliers suggested it might be as long as 7 months for a restock on the s3300 model and the big names like amazon, newegg, cdw etc don't have any info on when or if they'll get them back.   And as I mentioned several sites suggest it is a discontinued product so i'm hoping to find out about the replacement.
