advice for new netwotk project with stretched cluster

Hi, i need an advice to new project,  i need to connect 2 datacenter distant about 500 meter.

I will create a streched cluster with microsoft s2d. So i think that 4300 12x12f would be fine for start the project.

now the questions:

1) can i create a stack with 4 switches (2 for each datacenter)?

2) i saw that this model can do pfc but not Data Center Bridging, right? PFC alone is enough for RDMA?

3) support iwarp?

4) if i create a stack with four 10Gb channels theoretically i will have a 40Gb bandwidth, but exactly how it works? use a sort of load balancing algorithm?

thanks

Andrea

Re: advice for new netwotk project with stretched cluster

Hi @it_user1,

1) can i create a stack with 4 switches (2 for each datacenter)?

Yes.  As per page 29 of the M4300 data sheet here, you can stack up to 8 M4300 switch (any combination of M4300 switch model).

2) i saw that this model can do pfc but not Data Center Bridging, right? PFC alone is enough for RDMA?

Let me share you these old forum threads below as reference.  Hope it helps.

3) support iwarp?

iWARP is not supported since it is not mentioned in the M4300 data sheet here as well as in the M4300 user manual here

4) if i create a stack with four 10Gb channels theoretically i will have a 40Gb bandwidth, but exactly how it works? use a sort of load balancing algorithm?
