m4300-8x8f Dimensions
Hi there,
Just a stupid question that I can't seem find the answer for in the documentation. I'm just trying to find the exact dimensions of the switch to see if it will fit into a small (but well ventilated) spot in a mobile rack.
Cheers,
Erik

Re: m4300-8x8f Dimensions
Hi @eableson
Thank you for reaching, all questions are good because they help everyone in the Community, and with SEO (Google search etc.) this can help forever in the future.
Thank you for considering the M4300-8X8F, this is an excellent Top of Rack switch with 8 ports of 10G copper and 8 ports of 10G fiber absolutely plug and play for many applications. This is half-width version that can be mounted in 1U, and you can add a second half-width switch (this one or another M4300 half-width switch) for redundancy, stacking, distributed LACP in 1U too. The rackmount kit for both use cases is included in the box.
You can refer to the M4300 datasheet page 56 for all dimensions. The M4300-8X8G (XSM4316S ordering SKU number) dimensions are:
Width: 8.35 inches (21.2 cm) (half-width); Height: 1U - 1.73 inches (4.4 cm); Depth: 13.58 inches (34.5 cm)
With latest M4300 firmware, you can select a quiet mode (the fans are turned off if the ambient temperature is under 25C) or the fan mode for perpetual fan operation and maximum cooling. The command is available in the CLI (Global Configuration mode), this is:
[no] environment set fan quiet
I hope this helps!
Regards,
