How to properly size pictures for display
We have a new canvas II that we plan to use mostly for displaying our own pictures from travels. One issue we have confronted is figuring out how to properly size pictures so that they fit correctly in the screen and so the file sizes are not excessively large. Is there guidance somewhere on this?
Separately, if we have a standard mount for the frame and have it in horizontal orientation but a picture comes up that is a portrait orientation, is there a way to control how it displays? For example, ideally in this example te picture will be displayed so that it fills the space vertially and then shows cropping on the sides. Thanks.

Re: How to properly size pictures for display
Hello DW2019,
Thanks for reaching out. We recommend the following dimensions for images: for horizontal files, 16:9 ratio, cropped to fit 1920 x 1080 and for vertical files, 9:16 ratio, cropped to fit 1080 x 1920. The Meural Canvas is supposed to adjust the look of a file so that it will appear looking great no matter what format you put on it. You should make sure that your photo is cropped to 16:9 first though (even though the Meural can crop for you). That way you get the exact crop that you want.
Meural is a specialized 1080p LCD optimized for art and photography. The photo will be re-sampled to 1920x1080 automatically by the frame. Here is the help article on using your own files.
Here are a few more things to consider:
You should consider optimizing images for 100 dpi
RAW Files are not supported. Please see link above for supported formats.
If your photos are vertical, please use 1080x1920, if horizontal crop to 1920x1080.
