Meural photo frame: does wifi need to remain on for the frame to work?

Looking at getting one for my grandma, but my aunt is an anti-wifi nut and will only turn it on periodically. Wondering if the frame will function when the wifi is off?

    WiFi is required to setup the Meural and edit albums that are being displayed.
