MR1100 – Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot Router (AT&T) Firmware

I have the 

MR1100 – Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot Router (AT&T)

It has firmware NTG9X50C_12.05.05.14 which it says is the latest firmware. However, standard (non-AT&T) MR1100 M1's have firmware version

12.06.11.00

Can the AT&T version ever expect to get an updated firmware especially now that the OpenDNS integration is broken due to Cisco buying OpenDNS and modifing the API?

I would guess that trying to use the regular MR1100 firmware at https://www.netgear.com/support/product/MR1100.aspx#Firmware%20Version%2012.06.11.00 would likely brick or not install on the MR1100 (AT&T) branded device?

Does the regular MR1100 firmware even have a working OpenDNS integration now either?
