RBR50 Refurb + Armor Issue

I own a refurbished RBR50 modem and satellite pair and thru the netgear app I’m not able to set up Netgear Armor. I keep getting errors. (Activation Failed) - error failed to subscribe. Netgear level 2 support thinks the router is damaged but there’s nothing wrong with it - works. Do I really need to get a new one or is there a work around to get armor to work on a refurbished model.
