Top 3 Cybersecurity Threats… and what you can do about them!

For most of us, cybersecurity isn’t something we think about every day. We may not truly realize how prevalent they can be… that is, until we’ve become a victim or know of someone who has. We recently conducted a survey of NETGEAR Armor users to determine what their biggest concerns were. Here are the three areas they identified as top of mind for them.

Malware

Malware is malicious software that is harmful and is designed to cause damage to a computer and/or network. These can be in the form of computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses and spyware. Once infected, you are at risk of having your valuable data stolen, deleted, or even held for ransom.

Armor actively safeguards your network from cyberthreats, including malware, by blocking known malicious site and applications. Through advanced website filtering, Armor checks against the most updated database of malicious sites and apps and blocks suspicious URLs, keeping you safe from phishing, fraud, and viruses.

Identity Theft

In the hands of the wrong person, your personal information can be used to commit fraud. Such information can be used to open new accounts, take over existing accounts, provided as a false identity to a crime and more. Keeping your information as safe as possible becomes even more important.

Thieves may try to steal your information online through various ways; phishing, malicious websites, public WiFi and more. When protected by NETGEAR Armor, you’ll receive instant notifications any time you or someone in your family visits websites that may try to scam, infect or steal your personal information. Sites will also be blocked, ensuring you a safe browsing experience. With Bitdefender Total Security, you’re able to protect all your devices on your network and while away, giving you an extra layer of protection even while using public WiFi.

Router Security

Cyber attacks can occur when devices make their way onto your network undetected. Additionally, hackers may seek out vulnerable devices on your home’s WiFi to gain access to your network.

Since Armor protects you at the network level, anytime a new, unknown device joins your network you will receive an instant alert, allowing you to take immediate action and blocking the device if necessary. Regular scans will also identify any network flaws that may lead to unauthorized access, data theft, or malicious attacks. With a detailed weekly report, you’ll receive tips on how to address and secure your network based on the vulnerabilities identified, allowing you to address any issue.

How do you allow a website that Armor is blocking.  I know it to be good, but it is blocked by Armor.
