NETGEAR Insight Case Study – La Premier French Academy

Here's what happens when you don't have a strong internet signal in your office: Connections get dropped. Speed is slow. Productivity is impacted. People get frustrated. More importantly, you can't learn French.

OK, maybe learning French isn't the most paramount concern for you. But it is for Veronique Haghighi.  She's the owner of the La Premiere French Academy in Cupertino, California, a privately run school with a mission of make its students feel comfortable and confident with the French language. That includes learning grammar, conjugating tenses, increasing their vocabulary becoming conversational and fluent in the language. La Premier, which is owned and operated by the native French-speaking Haghighi, offers a French language education for students of all skill levels through both group and private classes.

Teaching French is tough enough and teaching to children can be even tougher. But try doing it when your network is slow. Haghighi relies on a fast network because downloading documents and using audio, video and other web-based language services is critical to help her students - particularly the younger ones who can be easily distracted - learn the language. "Having a fast internet connection is really important," she said.

Unfortunately, her business struggled with a less-than-adequate network. A good connection throughout her building was elusive. Connections were dropped. Browsing was slow. Content delivered by audio and video paused and froze. All of these problems caused interruptions in her lessons.  For an educator like Haghighi who needs every tool available to deliver an effective service the sporadic connections and erratic speeds was, according to her, "horrible.” For the sake of the business and the satisfaction of both students and their parents, it was time for a change.

So she did. She got rid of the old network and upgraded to Netgear's Insight Network.

The investment had an enormously positive impact. An admitted non-techie, Haghighi found it surprisingly easy to setup her access points and router using the step by step online and mobile app instructions.  After her setup, she immediately took advantage of all the features included in the Insight's Networks’ subscription like a single pane-of-glass view of all her devices and their locations from just one screen and the remote configuration capabilities available to her.

But the best advantage? Haghighi and her staff could now move seamlessly from one access point to another without dropping a connection or losing a session and easily setup multiple schedules for her Power-over-Ethernet devices that were connected to her Insight switches through its mobile app to maximize the speed and uptime of her network. Her students (and their parents) found that they could even interact with her business Facebook page to get access to free WiFi on her premises.

The result? Better teaching and a better educational experience. Haghighi could leverage the latest audio and video teaching tools to provide the best materials for her students and not have to worry about interruptions, delays or screen freezes.

"I'm getting a strong signal throughout the building, we're able to have a constant connection. I can now plan my lessons on the Internet without worry," she said. Why make learning a new language any harder than it needs to be? Haghighi discovered that an investment in the best technology helps her deliver the best service possible to her existing students, and position her business to grow in the years to come.
