Netgear MyTime VPN

Hi all - after a bit of a fight with the software I finally installed the MyTime VPN software onto my kids phones.  However, although on the home Wifi all is fine when they leave the house they are finding lots of apps being blocked by the VPN.  I have even set their access to adult to try and minimise the impact.  Is the VPN setup broken?  If so, how do I easily remove it as would rather have my kids use technology than Brick the devices
