Parental Controls Issue with extender connected to AX1800/RAX10 Router

Anyone experienced this and know the solution? I'm hesitant to buy another extender like the AX1600 only to find it also hides the connected devices from the AX1800. Thanks.
Does Netgear respond to cases you open with them? I opened one about this topic a week ago with nothing yet. This is a case for a brand-new product, under warranty, with a full year of the paid parental controls.
Finally got a response...two actually on the same day. And neither are helpful. I give up.
Has anyone figured out a way to use a Netgear extender in the method in my original post?
I am just getting started with this problem.
Funny thing - my previous setup was using an old TP-link router as an access point - just disabled DCHP and hardwired ethernet from my Netgear router. It had no issue with this problem.
In any case - I have tried reboots, making sure Wifi on iphones is not using a private (fake) MAC address, set static IP for each device I want to control. Nothing working yet. I will contact netgear again today when I have time
