Unable to use Parental Controls and Dev Mgr now shows zero devices
I have been using the Nighthawk app (version 2.33.0.269) with my RAX router for about a year now. Until today, the Device Manager showed me a list of all devices connected, including those connected by wireless to my wired AP.
I signed up the other day for Parental Controls and created the profile but was unable to add any devices. I thought this might be because the RAX has its wifi turned off and I rely strictly on the AP for wireless so I turned the RAX wifi on and connected my son's laptop to it. His profile will still not add any devices. I get one of two errors, either an "Unknown Error" or "Sorry, your device list failed to load. Please try again later".
At this point I called in to Netgear. I was told to uninstall the Nighthawk app and reinstall. After I reinstalled and entered my credentials, I was logged in. Now the app reports zero devices in Device Manager and still his profile will not add a device.
I tried calling Netgear back but their support agents just put me on hold for 30+ minutes and either hang up to lower their call time or they transfer me to someone else that's clueless. I'm now going to ask the one group that probably knows more than the "technical support" agents, the user community.
Any ideas what it could be? I'm just going to call back and get a refund for the Parental Controls sub and look for another solution.
