Has anyone installed an orbi and called the 800 number for help? I did and they wanted to acees my laptop. Is this normal for troubleshootin?

Of course not. Where does this 800 number come from? Never use any kind of a search engine to find support numbers.
Netgear support does always start on https://my.netgear.com/ -> My Support -> Contact Support
