500 Series, CPU Socket FCLGA1155

As usual, I fully accept the possibility I may destroy a toy, void a warranty, cause a fire, hurt myself and waste thousands of dollars, blah blah blah..

Has anyone taken apart a 500 series? Can you confirm for me its a standard FCLGA1155 socket and I can replace the CPU if I wasn't concerned about disclaimers?

I'm getting bored of my pro 6.

Yes you could replace the CPU or you could just get a 716 which already has a quad-core.

716 seems to be a xeon chip, I tend to prefer the consumer i5/7 chips for my needs. It seems like 516/716 are the same box with upgraded cpu/memory. Is that accurate or am I missing something in the specs?

The 716 also has two 10GBase-T ports. So if you want those the 716 is the way to go.
