6.2.0 Power Timer Schedule Not Cleared During Factory Reset

Sorry, if this has already been reported but it would seem if you perform a "Factory Reset" and you had shut down and start up times set that these are not cleared and thus if you power down the NAS it will turn itself back on at the time you had set before the factory reset.

To fix I just enabled power timer option and then cleared it.

It would be interesting to see if this issue effects the spin down and wake on lan options also?

Are you certain the factory default was successful?
After you did the factory default, did your nas power itself off on its own?

I have recently factory defaulted a 316 several times and the power timer was off, spindown off, and WOL off.

vandermerwe the 102 and 104 use quite different hardware to the 300 series. Have you tested this on a 102 or 104?

Power Timer is likely set to the hardware CMOS RTC (real time clock). So 6.2.1 fw should attempt to clear this setting on factory defaults.

mdgm, no.
I would assume that all those settings would be reset to off regardless of hardware as they are all features which users' would need to customise for their own situation - especially the power timer and disk spin down.

3xx series is standard x86 PC. Where 1xx series is low powered ARM system. They vary greatly in BIOS configuration.

I realise they're different systems
.
What would not make any sense is for the power timer to be set to ON after a factory default on any readynas hardware.
If for some reason it defaults to ON with some arbitrary, Netgear determined, on/off times set; then I think that should be changed.

Re: 6.2.0 Power Timer Schedule Not Cleared During Factory Re

I see 6.2.1 is out.

I will install on my two units, set a power schedule and then do another factory reset (on my unit with no data on of course).

I have a RN102 and a RN104

That will be interesting.

Re: 6.2.0 Power Timer Schedule Not Cleared During Factory Re

No, it is not fixed, the unit will still power on...

Sat Dec 20 2014 8:18:41
System: Antivirus scanner definition file has been updated to '201412200631'.
Sat Dec 20 2014 8:00:49
System: ReadyNASOS background service started.

So it would seem a factory reset in 6.2.1 still does not clear this setting.

Disc spin down setting is cleared BTW, and I will check WOL later today.

Disk spindown uses the noflushd package so that is to be expected. Unlike the power timer, disk spin-down doesn't use the hardware CMOS RTC.

While we're on the topic of retaining information in OS6, the performance information that is reset after each restart would be useful retained information for users, in my opinion.

Re: 6.2.0 Power Timer Schedule Not Cleared During Factory Re

Indeed, only power on times are not cleared during a factory reset and as suggested this would be the only function of the low power Real Time Clock chip.

The off times data would be available to the units software as of course it is powered up at the time.

Unrelated, perhaps in an update, could all the time fields be in a 24 hour format?

At present, some bits are 12hr with am/pm e.g. Device Time on system page linked to the Date & Time setup page.

But under System / Power all the schedules are in 24hr time format. e.g. 17:00
