Bought NVX Pioneer by mistake

Who's idea was it to have the business line and the home line share the same name? I needed this device to connect to Active Directory! Without AD this thing is useless in my environment. No where on the websites did it indicate that the pioneer was not AD compliant and not suited for business use. This is like buying a car when you can get the standard model(say camero) or you can get a version of the same model(say camero SS) only in the case of this nas device the product has completely different user base.

How much difference is there in the hardware of these devices. Is there a chance i can change the firmware to get what i need?

Re: Bought NVX Pioneer by mistake

The NVX and NVX Pioneer are discontinued products. The difference is mentioned in the FAQ, I think. The Documentation should also make it clear. The NVX Pioneer does not have AD listed in its specifications. Return the NVX Pioneer and get a Pro 4.

Re: Bought NVX Pioneer by mistake

it's past the time frame to return this device. We are just going to have to find a use for it. We already bought a pro 4. Still annoying to have the word pioneer be the defining term for "home or small Business" I hope Netgear learned from this mistake.

PS- thanks for your reply.

Re: Bought NVX Pioneer by mistake

It would make a good backup device for the Pro 4. I use a Pioneer with matching drives as an rsync backup target for my Business Edition. (When I bought it, it was $40 more than a Pioneer and had 2 more years of warranty. I thought it was a good trade off.)
