I have a ReadyNas that is very old but has been working fine until a few weeks ago. I have not had it turned on for some time. It boots up normally. I am now unable to access any shares with RAIDAR 6.5.0. I get an error that says "Your NETGEAR storage is not accessable from this computer. Check your network settings." I have been using RAIDAR 4.3.5 but that does not detect the NAS at all. Also I do not see it at a network file in file exporer. I am running Windows10 1903 build 18362.418. I have enabled SMB 1.0 CIFS File Sharing Support, SMB 1.0/CIFS Automatic Removal, SMB 1.0 CIFS Client and SMB 1.0/CIFS Sever. This has not helped. I cannot access it at all via IP address 192.168.168.168. RAIDAR shows all green that it's working properly. I have the NAS connected directly to my compter and not thru a router. Is there anything else I can do?

I have changed the TCP/IPVv4 IP address to 169.168.168.168, Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 and Default gateway to 192.168.1.1. I can now get RAIDAR 4.3.8 to find the NAS but I cannot "Browse" the shares.
If you are directly connecting, try setting the PC to use:
- IP address 192.168.168.100
- subnet: 255.255.255.0
- router: 192.168.168.168
Then access the NAS by it's IP address (instead of it's hostname).

Re: Can't Connect to READYnas RNDU 2000 with Windows 10
Hi Pocohorse,
Is the IP address of the computer on the same subnet with your NAS, which is 192.168.168.x? If it is not on the same subnet, you will need to change the IP of your computer to the same subnet to be able to access the NAS.
Regards,

Re: Can't Connect to READYnas RNDU 2000 with Windows 10
192.168.168.168 is the IP address the NAS uses if it cannot get an address from DHCP.
One thing to try is to reboot your router, and then reboot the NAS.

Re: Can't Connect to READYnas RNDU 2000 with Windows 10
I did these steps a few times and now it's working again! I can access the NAS via RAIDAR and I can see it and access it via File explorer. I can also access it by entering the ip address/admin. I'm now going to look for a new NAS chasis and drives to replaces this aging one. Thanks so much for helping me access my data.

Re: Can't Connect to READYnas RNDU 2000 with Windows 10
Your Ultra2 can still make a fine backup to your new NAS. I recommend converting it to OS6 if you do that. It's much more up to date, and you won't have to switch back and forth between two different GUIs.

Re: Can't Connect to READYnas RNDU 2000 with Windows 10
I will upgrade to OS6 once I get a new NAS in place. As this chasis is going on 8 years old I don't know how much longer this one will hold out but it has worked flawlessly. Will OS6 be more compatable with Windows10? So now that I can access everything when it's connected directly to the computer, I still cannot access it when it's connected to my Netgear C3600 model/router with these settings. What do I need to do differently to access it that way? If I can run it through the router, I would be able to connnect both NAS at the same time to transfer data between them right? Thanks again for your help with this. I'm not at all a comptuer expert.

Re: Can't Connect to READYnas RNDU 2000 with Windows 10
Yes, OS6 is much more compaible with newer Windows. It's hard to say why you have access problems when on the network but not when connected directly. It sounds like your NAS is not getting a IP address from your router, but I can't say why. It's especially odd that RAIDar can't find it, as it can usually see through network configuration issues because it uses an alternate discovery method.

Re: Can't Connect to READYnas RNDU 2000 with Windows 10
After I got the NAS working yesterday connected directly to the computer, I reconnected it to the router and nothing. I will try a restart on the router and see if that does anything. It's interesting that I could see the NAS with RAIDAR 6.5 but not with 4.3.8 when connected to the computer at first. After the IP change I could see and access with both versions of RAIDAR.
