There is a firmware update for my NAS drives, how easy is it to update?
By the looks of things I'll need to format the drives and update the firmware in Windows..

The storage device firmware upgrade does commonly not require re-formatting the on-disk-structure. Granted, some descriptions talk about anti-virus scanning of the disk for whatever reason...

I have managed to update the firmware to EN02 via DOS and things are ok now, thanks

I was assuming you meant the NAS firmware, not the drives (despite your title). Upgrading the disk firmware on a PC was the easiest approach.
