How do I change permissions or disable user shares on ReadyNAS Duo v2?
Technically, I'm not really a new user, as I've owned the device for a few years now. But, I'm in the process of upgrading my drives, via a factory reset, and this is my first time looking at the settings since I first got it.
Device: ReadyNAS Duo v2
Firmware: 5.3.11
Status: RAIDar 4.3.8 reports green lights accross the board, and RAIDar 6.1 shows the drives doing thier initial sync.
(Annoying that I need two versions of the same program to get this info, but not the problem I'm posting about.)
When I login to Dashboard (aka the admin page) as admin, and go to "Shares", I do not see the user shares created for each of my users.
The user shares do show up when browsing from either of my Windows 7 clients (depending which user is logged in, of course).
And I can create public shares under Dashboard->Shares, no problem.
Changing the Windows permissions on the shares does nothing; they are still hidden from other users.
Administratively, I don't want users saving to shares that I can't manage directly.
How do I access the settings for the user shares (or preferably disable/remove them)?
The only info I've been able to find in the FAQ, or elsewhere, suggestions from Netgear to use FrontView to turn off the feature.
After scrating my head and a few more searches, it appears that FrontView was an old name for Dashboard, so now I'm stuck.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Re: How do I change permissions or disable user shares on ReadyNAS Duo v2?
Hiya,
You shouldn't need to have two versions of RAIDar. The new version 6.x should show a green check-mark on the disk (rather than a green light) if the disk is OK. Does it not show that for you?
Regarding home folders. When you create users then a home folder for that user is automatically created. This home folder is visible only to that user and the admin of the NAS. I believe that you cannot change this setting. I don't remember in OS5 if you can disable the creation of home folders when adding a user. I will check later for you.
Also, note that if you delete a user then the NAS will also delete that user's home folder.
Cheers
