Is there a way to upgrade MySQL? OS: 6.9.4 / Model: ReadyNAS Pro 4
Currently, I am using:
mysql --version
mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.5.62, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 6.3
Is there a safe way to upgrade it to 5.7 or 8.0? Thanks.

See https://rnxtras.com/addons/mysql-installer-r6all . I believe it will install mariadb-server/oldoldstable 10.0.38-0+deb8u1. There is a small cost to help cover his cost of maintaining the web site, but he's already done the hard part of insuring it won't mess up the OS's use of mysql and that the default database location is not on the OS partition, which could fill it up.

Thanks for replying my question.
mariadb 10.0 is too old as well.
If switch to mariadb, I think I need 10.6+
