Move NV+ raid to NV+ ver2 possible??
As the title says, my Readynas NV+ has died and I have the opportunity to purchase a new NV+ ver2 cheaply and wanted to know if I fitted my old drives (4 x 2TB) into the new ver2 chassis would it recognize my existing volume?
Thanks,
Tony
Thanks,
Tony

No. Different RAID format.
When did you purchase the v1?
Is your serial number in the range of units with PSUs known to fail prematurely?

Re: Move NV+ raid to NV+ ver2 possible??
Thanks mdgm no its not in the range and it died after a storm so not really a warranty thing, Yes I now have a UPS as well
I can borrow a friends V1 NV+ so I might just buy some new drives and manually transfer the data that way.
Cheers,
Tony

Yes you can borrow a friend's v1 unit. Make sure it's running at least as new firmware as yours was before moving the disks across and follow the instructions here: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_migrate_disks_over_from_an_existing_readynas_to_another
Another less desirable alternative would be to try data recovery using Linux. See Mounting Sparc-based ReadyNAS Drives in x86-based Linux
Of course if the NAS was damaged by a storm it's possible one or more of the hard drives may have been too. If that's the case you may need to restore from backup. A power surge can damage anything and everything though hopefully your disks are fine.
