NAS Neatgear network letter

I do have a NAS Netgear READYNAS NV RND4000 but since i have a new desktop i can`t connect a drive letter to my NAS.

I do see the NAS in Network connections and i multi media by these way i can connect to the NAS as also by the IP-address.

What i like to do is connect a drive letter tot he NAS.

By my second NAS this is not a problem.

Can some one help me out. Thanks in advance.

Try rebooting the PC, and then executing the two commands again:

net use * /delete

net use t: \\192.168.0.220\C /user:admin nas-admin-password

Re: NAS Neatgear network letter

The first step is to go into "turn windows features on or off" in the PC, and make sure that the SMB 1.0 client is installed.  Have you done that?

Also, what firmware are you running in the NV+?

Did you also enable SMBv1 in Windows settings? These older NAS units are, to my knowledge, only capable of SMBv1 so you must that.

Then you don't have an RND4000.  Perhaps look again at the product label, or install RAIDar and tell us what model it gives you.  https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads#raidar

The SMB 1.0 client needs to be turned ON.

Ok.  That's an NVX - quite different from the NV+.

Good.

Now try running CMD (just enter CMD from the windows search bar).  That will open a black text box.  Enter the following commands:

net use * /delete

net use t: \\nas-ip-address\C /user:admin nas-admin-password

using the real NAS ip address and admin password.  Be careful on the typing - particularly the slash directions and the spaces.

The first command terminates any open SMB network sessions in the PC.  If it prompts you to proceed, say yes.

The second command attempts to mount the NAS data volume as drive letter T.  Let us know if that command works - and if it doesn't what error you get.  Note the command won't work if you are still using netgear1 for the admin password.

You used the actual NAS IP address?  Or did you use the hostname?

Can you ping the NAS IP address?
