Netgear ReadNAS RN 102 never again - just junk / crap

Hello,

I've bought a rn 102 an added two WD drives - yes these drives are on the compatibility list.

Happy two have an adequate replacement for my old NAS I got dissapointed very soon:

1. No drive spindown - okay not a real problem but to be honest I would say : unbelivable
2. The drive does show up in the windows network randomly / arbitrarily. Yes I know I can bind the drives etc. but I don't want and for all my old NAS drives I dont have to
3. The Power Timer does what it wants: Shut down and never wake up, dont shut down, shut down wake up but not reachable / hangs etc....
4. DLNA sometimes works sometimes not etc. Scan extremely slow

In summary: this is the worst combination of hard and software I#ve ever bought - dont by ReadyNas 102 or similar just not a penny worth.

All best - Christian

I am not seeing (2). DLNA has worked for me with no problem.

What firmware are you running?

Hi StephenB,

what do you gues ? The oldest one dated 1000BC 😞

With respect to your profile statement - The Verve said: Drugs dont work 🙂 probably like the ReadyNAS Crap.

Sorry that I'm so angry about ReadyNas OS, but this hard / soft combi is really just not worth spending any minute. Stephen if you ever get the chance to get cured and clean try a synology and you dont have to hang around in this board.

Okay not worth complaning about - the rn102is just 109€ in swiss - I just throw it away 🙂

Bye 🙂
