RN10200 not available/not booting properly

My system was set up by my late husband and I did not need to understand it I just used it.

I now fear I have lost all that was saved on the readynas as I can no longer connect to it. As this contained all of my files including all financial recocords and particularly all of our photos including all those of my husband I really want to recover all that I can.

I recently upgraded my broadband to a higher speed is this just coincidental?

Any help or suggestions as to what I need to check would be gratefully received.

Re: RN10200 not available/not booting properly

When you changed to a higher speed broadband connection did you also change the modem/router that you're using?

Can you see the NAS in RAIDar? If so is the I.P. address in the same range as your PC? e.g. if your PC has an I.P. of 192.168.0.5 is the I.P. address of your NAS 192.168.0.x (where x is a number)?

If the I.P. address of the NAS is not in the same range as your PC that would explain why you can't connect.

I just want to add that this isn't difficult to fix.

RAIDar runs on a PC (either Windows or MacOS).  You can download RAIDar 6.3 from here:  https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads#raidar.

If you find the IP address stuff confusing, you can post the IP address that RAIDar gives you here.   Also, you'll need to let us know what IP address your PC is using.  There's a guide on getting that information here: https://kb.netgear.com/20878/Finding-your-IP-address-without-using-the-command-prompt

These addresses are safe to post - they can only be used on your home network, they can't be used to reach your systems over the internet.

Re: RN10200 not available/not booting properly

As I say I am new to all this so let me better explain how I've got to where I am now.

Changed my router as upgraded to higher speed broadband.

Could no longer access any files on the readynas

Raidar  - no disks detected

Netgear Manager - stated off line so could not do anything

Physical buttons - seemed to do nothing

The disks have been removed and the reset button has been pushed but again nothing seems to have happened.

The blue power button is flashing.

I am now worried about putting the disks back in as I've now read that the reset button will clear the disks. If I unplug the readynas will that completely clear the reset so I can safely replace the disks or will it clear them when inserted.

I supspect I have made some fundimental mistakes in trying to solve this. Where do I go from here!!

Re: RN10200 not available/not booting properly

The next step is to

  • power down the NAS
  • reinsert the disks (keeping them in the original slots if you can)
  • power up the NAS

It will then boot up normally (and anything you did before powering down with the reset control or boot menu will have no effect).

After it boots up, run RAIDar again.  It should show the NAS as healthy, and show the firmware it is running and the IP address.  So please give us that information, along with the PC's IP address (using the instructions above).

Also, can you also post the router manufacturer/model?
