RN3100 Quiet? RN1000 noisey
Have a RN 1000 and a 1100 .. in a rack in a studio .. they are too loud. do we know what the db levels are between the RN 1000 and the newer RN 1U devices like the RN3100 .. this is real critical for us.

Re: RN3100 Quiet? RN1000 noisey
The 3100, 3200 and 4200 are very noisy. The 1500 and 2100 are quieter. Not sure about the noise level comparison with the 1100 though. Rackmount units aren't designed for where noise is a concern.
There was an Infrant rackmount model many years back called the Repertoire which was designed for where noise was a concern but that only sold 30 units.. So it's a fairly limited market (or at least was).

Re: RN3100 Quiet? RN1000 noisey
The 3100 will be 2-3x noisier than the 1100. It is a SuperMicro 1U full-depth chassis with a few internal fans running at full speed. Not a customized chassis like the 1100.
