What model NAS is this?  The RND2110 doesn't have an LCD control panel.

But you are reaching the ReadyNAS web ui?

Or do you really mean RAIDar?

Re: RND2110 factory reset = "device offline"

Yes RAIDar   4.3.8 recognises NAS and displays blank  dashboard with very little data other than drive capacity.

Netgear RAIDar 6.5

yeilds dialog box that hang forever.

don't know how NAS couldn't be on different sub net

assume Drive wouldn't even show up if cable was bad.

Re: RND2110 factory reset = "device offline"

correction ... it must be on same subnet being directly wired to modem

Some people assign the NAS a static address - then later on they change their router or gateway, and end up an a different subnet.

RAIDar can find the NAS if that happens - it uses a broadcast protocol which will find the NAS even if the IP is misconfigured.

Getting back on track - I'm not getting a clear picture of what's going on with your system.  Taking it from the top - is the factory reset something you did intentionally?  If so, what problem were you trying to solve?

Re: RND2110 factory reset = "device offline"

RND2110 purchased in 2013 with intent to serve squeezbox which never was sucessful.

has now purchased a bluesound system and I'm trying to get fresh start.

Watched RAIDar progress thru to 100%  file check but never show green icon on left status indicator.

just cant get control ....  not connected

Are you sure you are using the correct instructions?  Did you scroll through the options on page 17 here:  http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RND2110/ReadyNAS_Duov2_NV+v2_HW_en_23-Mar-12.pdf

If you are willing to wipe all data, try connecting the disk drives to a Windows PC (either SATA or with a USB adapter/dock).  Then zero them with vendor tools (seatools for Seagate, lifeguard for Western Digital).  You'll find the write zeros option under the advanced test.  Then put the disks into the NAS and power up.  It will do a fresh factory install - no need to use the boot menu.

Other options you could try:

  1. Power up the NAS with only 1 disk installed. Start with disk 1 only - if that fails, power down and try again with only disk 2 (in slot 2).
  2. Try to use the boot menu to skip the volume check.
