RND4000-100NAS won't reset
Won't reset at all, have pushed the button numerous times, its dead. Tried the online reset, but the link is dead, it goes nowhere. Can't do setup in RAIDar, it won't recognize my password. Went into password recovery, and it won't work either. RAIDar sees the NAS, I can ping it, but Win 10 doesn't see it in the network, don't know why. Really frustrated.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
What firmware are you running?
BTW if your part number is correct in the title, you have a v1, not a v2.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
I am working with a win 10 OS. I don't know the firmware. I obviously don't know anything about these NAS, because I don't even know where to find it. The NAS came with a disc which contained RAIDar and NTI Shadow, nothing else. I have no dashboard that so many people speak about. What am I missing? Do you access this thing with DOS?
Interesting comment about the version because right on the label it says its v3. That all sounds so weird to me. Have I got a freak?

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
Hi glwrnsn,
Welcome to the community!
Try to do the ff.
1. Download and install RAIDar in your PC.
2. Connect the ReadyNAS on your network via LAN.
3. Remove the disk and boot it up.
4. Open the RAIDar utility in your PC.
Check if the device shows up on the utility and tell us if it obtains an IP address from your network. Also, send us a PM together with the serial number of your unit.
Kind regards,
BrianL

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
BrianL:
RAIDar finally accepted my password, the same one I have been trying to make it take....weird. I updated firmware. Strange thing happens. Right after update the NAS shows in my Windows network, but I can't access it. Gives me an error about socket and protocol missing. Sorry, I didn't write it down. Then on reboot, the NAS disappears again from Windows network.
1. Already have RAIDar on the PC, but I updated it.
2. ReadyNAS already hooked to network via Lan
3. Remove all four HD's and booted it up.
4. The ReadyNAS shows up in RAIDar, IP address is 192.168.1.10, of course it shows its empty with no disks. Serial number of NAS is 23J51A7700255..

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
Perhaps power down, reinstall the disks in their original slots, and then boot up.
Then open CMD and enter
net use * /delete
net use t: \\192.168.1.109\C /user:admin nasadminpassword
If the first command asks for confirmation, let it proceed, Errors on that one can be ignored.
The second one should mount the NAS C volume as drive letter t. Use the real admin password of course.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
Stephen: when I type in the first line I get an error "the network is not present or not started"
why 192.168.1.09 when the address of the NAS is 192.168.1.10?

It should have been 192.168.1.10, not sure what I was thinking when I typed that address.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
If you just type net use do you see the connection?
Something like this:
c:\>net use
New connections will not be remembered.
Status Local Remote Network
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK T: \\10.0.0.10\c Microsoft Windows Network
The command completed successfully.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
in entering only c:\>net use at cmd I get: New connection will be remembered. There are no entries in this list.
Since this looked good I went ahead and typed your original lines in. Then again I get the error 67. Is there something weird wrong with this Windows Network?

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
Brian: I have already done this twice, will another attempt help any better? What difference does it make if I do it with a USB flash drive compared to download update through RAIDar? Gets the same job done. If you look back at previous posts you will see my comments on the second time I reloaded the firmware. It was weird.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
Hi glwrnsn,
Yeah. I saw that you've done this several times via the normal procedure. But I hope you can give this a try and let us know what happens.
Kind regards,

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
Well I tried. I have never used Rawrite32, so I don't know what the heck I am doing. I downloaded it and set it to my image files. It kicks out data on the hashes. Then when I write to my USB drive I get an error #6 write error to disk. I downloaded everything again incase there was an error in a file, but I consistently get that same error message.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
Hi glwrnsn,
I quickly tested it on a USB flash drive in FAT32 format and it worked just fine. Download a fresh copy of the said image file from the link I posted on my last reply and use another USB flash drive, and give it another go.
Kind regards,
BrianL

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
BrianL: I finally got it to go. I had to try 4 USB flash drives before one would fly. But it ran ok, I think, it looked ok. But I still cannot see the NAS in my computer or on the network. Something new, I think because I don't remember ever seeing it before is a USB drive that won't load. That shows up under devices and printers (w10). It gives an error 43 device descriptor request failed. I tried a number of the fixes shown online, but none have worked. So I am going to strip back my USB devices by unconnecting them to see if I can find it. I haven't added anything new lately, so I am not sure what this is. Plus everything seems to work, except for the NAS. Of course, I have no idea if this is related to the NAS. I just thought I should mentioin it.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
Yes, RAIDar sees it, shows all the drives and the IP address. Pushing the power button once it does show the IP address. Yes, its the same as what RAIDar shows. I can ping it.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
Hi glwrnsn,
Thanks for the information that you have provided. For the meantime, let's set aside the network access. Have you tried accessing the Frontview or the admin page? How about accessing the shares via File Explorer? Check this page for further instructions.
Kind regards,

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
I cannot access the NAS through Windows Explorer using the IP address or host name. I get an error saying there is a problem with the network. My FrontView looks different than that shown in the article. I can't find the items shown in the article for sharing and setting security.
