Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
Try running CMD on the windows system and enter
net use * /delete
net use t: \\nasipaddress\C /user:admin nasadminpassword
of course substituting the real ip address and nas admin password.
The first command terminates any open network connections - if it prompts for confirmation, let it proceed. The second maps the NAS "C" volume to PC drive letter t - which can only be done with the NAS admin credentials.
Let us know if these work as expected (and if not, what does happen).

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
I cannot access the NAS through Windows Explorer using the IP address or host name. I get an error saying there is a problem with the network. My FrontView looks different than that shown in the article. I can't find the items shown in the article for sharing and setting security.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
after entering the first line I get "There are no entries in the list"
after entering the second line to map the NAS I get "System error 67 has occured. The network name cannot be found.
I checked again, I can still ping it.

That is usual, it just means there were no sessions to disconnect.

Could you try one more time, being particularly careful to put a space between t: and \\

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
So
-RAIDar detects the NAS and says it is ok
-You can ping the NAS
-You cannot access any shares through SMB
What happens if you browse to https://192.168.1.10/admin Perhaps you've done this, but I'm not seeing it on the thread.
Also, what firmware are you running? (RAIDar should tell you).

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
by subing the IP address for the info you give, the login screen pops up for FrontView. Of course plugging in the password results in FrontView coming up. The firmware is 4.1.14

Good.
The thread is a bit long - the original goal was to reset the NAS. Is that still what you want to do, or do you just want access from Windows 10?

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
yes, I now can reset the NAS and have updated the firmware. But it doesn't do me any good if I can't use it. So yes, I want to access it from Windows 10. We tried to map a drive through CMD and that didn't work. So this appears to be some sort of a Windows network issue.

I agree - and my own NV+ can be accessed from my Win10 systems so it should be fixable.
Start by making sure the NV+ workgroup matches the workgroup for Win10 (not the same as the homegroup btw). Obviously make sure that the NAS has SMB enabled, and that the shares are configured to use it. It might make sense to set up at least one share for anonymous access.
If you haven't checked already, make sure that the win10 system has the network connection set to "private"

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
All the setting were already correct. I added the anonymous share access. Otherwise everything was ok. I rebooted, no luck.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
I think I made a tiny breakthrough. I turned off my protection and firewall. (I have an exception written to allow NAS, but it doesn't seem to be working). I can now see the NAS in Windows Explorer. However it does not show up in Devices & Printers, or NTI Shadow. In Windows Explorer if I double click on the icon for the NAS I get error 0x80004002 No such interface supported.

Anybody have any new ideas? I have tried everything you have thrown at me, but no luck. I hate to throw away a good device just because Windows 10 is snooty.

Re: RND4000-100NAS won't reset
My NV+ is fully accessible from my Win10 systems, so this is confusing.
I don't see what else to try.
