Ready NAS 104 backup failed

Ready NAS 104 backup failed
Ready NAS 104 backup to external HDD connected with USB cable failed. Message log says "Backup stopped due to read-only". The format of HDD is NTFS and recognized to 104 NAS. My setting is the following.
backup from: shared folder (xxxxx)
backup to: USB device connected to USB port in 104 NAS.

If the USB drive is in a format that Windows supports, then try ejecting the USB drive. Connect it to a Windows PC, and if it offers to "repair" it, then let it.
Not sure how this would be done on a Mac.

Only the operation disconnecting external backup-drive from 104 main menu can not
disconnect normally. The access lamp of external back-drive HDCX-UTL(i-o data)
remains green, it is still connected.
The following is the fix procedure.
1) Connect external drive (USB HDD) to PC.
2) Disconnect external drive by normal PC operation.
---> recognizes disconnecting is normally.
3) Connect to external drive to NAS 104.
