Greetings, I have an old reliable Readynas 6 Ultra with 6X2 TB Hard Drives. It has run pretty flawlessly for the time i owned it. never did any updates to memory, but i was religious about updates so it definitely has the latest updates installed.
Long Story short, we had a power outage recently (it was surge protected via a UPS) and when power was restored my Readynas was no longer working and i cannot get it to boot. At this point i have tried reset, removing hard drives and everything I can think of without opening the case.
At this point the behavior is as follows:
Power up the unit - some fan activity but sporadic, and power button blinks slowly blue.
Press power button, power and backup lights flash slowly. Nothing shows on the led display at all and no lan activity so no chance of accessing to see the boot menu I think.
Similar threads i have found all seem to show the LED banner still working.
Based on what i have read, it seems that the power supply is shot, but before I start down that path I want to see if there are any other suggestions and if its even worth it or if I should just tank the thing and scrap the 6 drives.
There is a seller on eBay that sells supplies already modified with a longer cable and the necessary 3 Molex connectors. They used to be a lot more expensive, and getting your own SFX supply and configuring it was a lot cheaper. But the price is now a lot more reasonable, and I recommend you go that way.
If you have a "spare" ATX12V supply, you can connect it externally just to verify the problem is the supply before you purchase one only to find it's not.
IMHO, an Ultra6 is still a viable NAS for home use. I don't think I'd set one up for video transcoding, but as just a media storage unit, it's quite usable. They tend to be quite reliable, with the power supply being the first thing to go. So once you've replaced that, it's got a lot of life left. If you've not already updated to OS6, now would be a good time to do that.
Yeah no concerns about lost data, i had moved everything to a different nas, was getting ready to set this up as a dedicated media store. i guess ill dig through the threads on replacing the power supply. Thanks For the help

Thanks For your feedback, I found a powersupply on ebay with the description 'NEW Netgear ReadyNAS Pro 6 RND6000-200 RNDP6610 RNDP6620 POWER SUPPLY Replace N2' which i think you are referring to (its about $65). I will go ahead and order and follow the instructions i have found posted elsewhere on these boards to intall.
