ReadyNAS 104 - Adding disks
Hi, I have a Netgear ReadyNAS 104 and would like to know if I can start using the NAS with 2 disks and add in the other 2 disks at a later date.
I do want redundancy so is XRaid the way to go?
I am going to be using WD Red 4TB drives but cannot finance all 4 at the current time.
Is it simple enough to add the other two at a later date?
(PS I am not a techie)
Thanks

Re: ReadyNAS 104 - Adding disks
Hi Sambat,
Yes, having 4 drives is not a prerequisite for the 4-Bay NAS. With X-Raid you can horizontally expand your storage when you need.
Please see more information on X-Raid here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22802/~/what-is-x-raid-and-how-does-it-work-with-my-re...
Also, linked is more info on expanding your storage: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23133/related/1
There is also a hard drive compatibility list for the different ReadyNAS: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20641
Let us know if you need further assistance.
Regards,
