ReadyNAS 314 volume failures and LCD displaying weird characters

  1. Netgear ReadyNAS 314 on version 6.x.x
  2. Had 4 x WD Black 4TB Desktop 7200rpm Hard drives
  3. Drive 3 switched to a degraded state a few days ago
  4. Purchased a WD Red 4TB 5400rpm drive
  5. Hot-Swapped out the degraded drive with the WD Red Drive
  6. Status switched from Resync to online within 5 minutes instead of taking hours to rebuild
  7. Volumes in admin page showed
    1. Volume 1 - blue & online
    2. Volume 2 - blue & failed
    3. Volume 3 - greyed out & online
    4. Volume 4 - blue & online
  8. Volume/Drive 2 then switched from online to failed
  9. Netgear ReadyNas Admin Page inaccessible
  10. Weird characters scrolling on LCD display & blinking LCD display

This has been going on since yesterday and returned this morning and still the same issue. Was hopeful that it was building overnight.

Not sure what to do at this stage, don't want to power it off and cause all data to be lost. Any help appreciated.

Contact support, even if they charge.

BTW if you purchased new between 1 June 2014 and 31 May 2016 you have lifetime free chat support.

We purchased back in April 2013 and our support has expired. Phone, Email and Chat Support have expired. Only Hardware support remains.

You can still get paid (per-incident) support.
