ReadyNAS 516 problem resetting assword to admin password (factory default)
When trying to reset PW, the NG website says to go to the NG password recovery page and click on reset buttom BEFORE I use a straight paper clip to push in the rear reset button. The reset button is greyed out and does not work. What am I doing wrong or is there another way to get the 516 back to the admin password? Thanks in advance for any help. - Jaz
I believe it has the latest firmware.

Just do the OS reinstall from the boot menu. See page 120 of the hardware manual for a step-by-step.
The reinstall will not effect your data. It will
- reset the admin password back to password
- reset the network configuration to use DHCP with no bonding
- disable volume quota (easily re-enabled from the volume settings wheel).
Though it makes security types cringe, you might consider putting your admin password on a label or sticky on the back of the front door of the NAS. Anyone with physical access can do the OS reinstall, so IMO it doesn't really compromise security.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
