ReadyNAS NV+
Hello,
My old ReadyNAS NV+ has just died, looks like the power supply has gone dead. I was looking at replacing the power supply but it looks like I can purchase a newer NAS NV (without drives) for about $100.00 more. My question is, if I buy the new ReadyNAS NV+ can I use my current drives in the dead NV in the new ReadyNAS without reformatting the drives since all my data is located on those drives and I don't have those drives backed up? I've got several Terrabytes of data store on those drives.

Re: ReadyNAS NV+
If it's a NV+ it needs to be a NV+ (v1 - silver chassis) if that's what your dead unit is.
You can't migrate to/from the NV+ (v1) and the NV+ v2 (charcoal chassis).

Re: ReadyNAS NV+
So If I can find a NAS NV+ V1 (Silver Chassis) I can just move my drives over and it won't destroy the data?

Re: ReadyNAS NV+
It won't destroy the data, however..
I would get the power supply and put the rest of the money you would have spent on the "new" NV+ toward a newer NAS unit. When you can buy the newer unit your NV+ can become a backup unit.
You really should be keeping some type of backup.
