ReadyNASRND2110 not supporting TLS 1.2

My ReadyNAS Duo RND2110 unit has been running flawlessly for many years. Firmware: RAIDiator v.4.1.16

All major browsers have announced they will be dropping support for TLS 1.0 & 1.1.

Today, Firefox informed me that my Netgear NAS does not support TLS 1.2 which means that soon, I won't be able to

remotely manage my unit using FrontView web management tool.

Do Netgear plan to release a patch to support TLS 1.2 on all their units including the old ones but working flawlessly like mine?

Re: ReadyNASRND2110 not supporting TLS 1.2

It's great that your unit is still working well.

However this product was replaced in NTGR's lineup way back in November 2011.

It's not unreasonable that it's no longer getting firmware updates.

A workaround would be to run a browser that still supports older TLS just for use with Frontview, or perhaps even a VM with an old version of a Web Browser for this task.

On your home network connecting to a NAS with a self-signed TLS certificate from an older TLS version shouldn't be a concern. It would however be a concern to use that for online banking, on ecommerce sites etc.

The Duo will also accept unencrypted http, so if you prevent the browser from redirecting to https, then you should still be able to reach frontview with it.  So maybe that's worth researching a bit more.  I'll look into it when I have a chance.

The HTTP site gets automatically re-directed to HTTPS. Any idea of how to disable the automatic re-direction?

Part of it is to disable https in the NAS.

Not sure if that also needs to be done.
