ReadyNas RND6000 hangs at booting
As the device showed up errors in the e-mail notification, I connected via RAIDAR to find out the Problem. The ReadyNas is populated with 3x2TB + 3x3TB WDred HDs.
76% of 10TB total capacity X-Raid2 is used.
Trying to load the protocols ended up with the device vanishing in the RAIDAR.
No ping. No reaction on pressing the power-button. So I shut down the device ungracefully. An attempt to reboot the machine ended up in finding all 6 HDs healthy and stuck at booting... (As I knew that a resync takes 14 hours, I waited that time).
OK the solution: 1GB Ram isn't sufficent. The bootprocess ended in a Kernel panic: out of memory, no processes to kill.
I replaced the memory with 2x2GB, memory tested OK, restartet the device and it came up whith no errors...
All 7,6TB of Data are present.
