ReadyNas duo HDD compatibility
I have an RND 2110 ReadyNas Duo.
I returned one of a pair of Seagate 1Tb ST 31000528AS drives under RMA with SMART errors.
The replacement drive arrived today but it's a Western Digital 1Tb WD1003FBYX.
Two questions:
1. It's not on the compatibility list for the 2110. Is the list not up to date?
2. will two different drives operate happily together?
regards
Pete

Re: ReadyNas duo HDD compatibility
1. The list is up to date. Drives not on the list may/may not work. Tech support will deny support if you have issues.
2. Yes, however you must choose disks from the compatibility list.

The WD drive is on the list as compatible with an RND2100
Mine is an RND2110
Have raised a query with Tech support

Re: ReadyNas duo HDD compatibility
Incorrect. It's on the list for the 2100 (RNRX4000 series), a 1U 4-bay rack mount x86 (has Intel CPU) ReadyNAS. This is a very different product compared to the Duo, a desktop Sparc (has Infrant Sparc CPU) ReadyNAS

Yep, wrong drive, new RMA!
It took longer than it ought to establish that I bear no responsibility for the cost of returning the wrong drive, but we got there in the end.
It's lucky I took the trouble to check that what arrived was compatible.
** just had a further call from Netgear. The correct drive was (and still is out of stock) hence they sent the wrong one!!!

Re: ReadyNas duo HDD compatibility
It got better and worse!
I was given a second RMA to replace and return the incorrect drive. That RMA was cancelled 5 minutes later because the replacement was out of stock.
A third RMA was raised to replace and return the incorrect drive and supply an alternative drive. That arrived, was fine and I posted back the incorrect one.
Today another drive turned up covered by the cancelled second RMA!!!. I have telephoned Netgear and they say the will decide what to do and I should just hold on to it for the time being. I made it clear that I have no wish to take another 10 mile round trip to the nearest Post office and queue for half an hour (yes it really is that bad) just to put someone else's mistake right for the second time.
What concerns me is they hold my credit card details and may charge me while I wait. I need to put this all in writing but there is a complete lack of email addresses.
any suggestions
