Replacement Fan (FAN-3) for ReadyNAS 1000S

Gang,

Fan 3 on my ReadyNAS 1000s just took a dump (PART #: RNR1000S-FAN1 - I think). I called into NetGear and was told that unit is out of warranty and no longer supported. Can anyone tell me either where to find a replacement fan or better yet, the actual Fan specs so I can go try to source one on my own? I also have a ReadyNAS 1100 - Will a fan from an 1100 work in the 1000S? If so I can just purchase a replacement part for that unit and use it.

Thanks!

Re: Replacement Fan (FAN-3) for ReadyNAS 1000S

Well.... Many thanks to all of you who DID NOT reply to this post - especially those of you who may still be working at at NetGear and not bothering to raise a finger or do a little research for someone who has loyally supported your product. I realize that this unit is a 1000S which was originally produced by Infrant Technologies and you "don't support" it any more but I do own several other NetGear branded units. Would have been nice for one of you to go back to engineering and ask some basic questions, do a little research and help out those of us who still own these "prehistoric" dinosaurs.

For everyone else out there experiencing fan problems on a 1000S - I have done my homework and here is your answer....

The original chassis fans in the 1000S are made by a company called ADDA - their original part number is AD0412HB-B33. This part number is no longer valid / available because it contains lead. However the good news is that there is a direct "drop in" replacement by ADDA and that part number is AD0412HB-B33-LF. This new part is a RoHS compliant version and is available from Mouser Electronics http://www.mouser.com/ as part number 664-AD0412HB-B33-LF and is described as 40mm 12VDC 3 BLADE fan. Currently these units are on backorder until May as they are a high demand item, but they are available for a small fee $12.08 USD each.

Hope this helps at least one of you out there still clinging to your old, outdated and unsupported hardware.

BusaBoy - keep in mind that this forum is watched and used mostly by users of the Infrant/Netgear ReadyNAS not employees. There are a few, but one has to catch their eye. Generally the best way to do that is to open a case on line and then post the case number in the header of the topic.

I am glad you were able to find a replacement.

Re: Replacement Fan (FAN-3) for ReadyNAS 1000S

The thing is though PapaBear that the 1000S is so old that you wouldn't even be able to open a tech support case for it, I think, so the forum is the only way to get help for those units.

Anyway it's good that BusaBoy found a replacement and was able to share his findings with the community here.

Busaboy, I know you might have found a fan already but if there is something else you need let me or Chirpa know. We might not always have what you need but we can look.

Thanks for the responses guys and I hope someone out there benefits from the research. I know the 1000S is old but it's been pretty reliable and would hate to put it in the bone yard over a few bad fans.

Re: Replacement Fan (FAN-3) for ReadyNAS 1000S

Thank you, I benefitted. I have a fan (1) that hasn't quite failed but is so noisy it is on the way to failure. This will allow me to be proactive in ordering a proper replacment. Other than this, my 1000s is running strong. I appreciate that we can still keep it plugging along! Thanks again!

Thank you! I have 2 of these models built by Infrant, they both need one fan now! 🙂
