I have a readnas 202 with a 4TB drive (WD40PURX) and a 3TB drive (WD30EFRX). After setting up the readynas it shows both drives online with the 4TB drive in the first bay and the 3TB drive in the second bay. I have also tried setting up the readynas with the drives switched in the oposite bays.
Upon completion of setup with no files stored on the shares the system shows 2.7TB available. I'm a newbie hear with just basic knowledge. According to the HD compatability list both of these HDs are supported by the RN202.
What would be the reason storage free is only 2.7TB? Would that be because of data storage redundancy? Thank you!

The only redundancy possible (being X-RAID or a RAID1) is using 2 * 3 TB, ... that makes about 2.7 TB net. Perfectly correct.
