Three different Linux/Debian releases running on three different type of ReadyNAS

Dear Netgear mods, can one of you shed a light on this riddle? It turns out, that on RN524, RN426 and RN204 three (slightly) different releases of Debian are running.

See details here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/New-ReadyNAS-Users-General/What-version-of-Debian-is-6-9-and-6-10/m...

Differerent processor families might be part of the explanation, but if you know more reasons, please share.

Kind regards

Just the processor.  Both my RN102 and RN202 are set to "stable", and I see the same version strings that you do.

Note you can also see these strings with ssh using

# cat /proc/version

Re: Three different Linux/Debian releases running on three different type of ReadyNAS

To make things as much comparable as possible I downloaded the logs from all my three nas a few minutes ago and I find the following:

(1) In kernel.log for RN426 on 6.9.5 Hotfix1 Update method: Long-Term support

Apr 22 01:23:15 nasname kernel: Linux version 4.4.157.x86_64.1 (root@blocks) (gcc version 8.2.0 (Debian 8.2.0-12) ) #1 SMP Wed Dec 19 09:35:08 UTC 2018

(2) In kernel.log for RN204 on 6.10.0 Hotfix2 Update method: Stable

Apr 22 01:23:00 nasname kernel: Linux version 4.4.163.alpine.1 (root@blocks) (gcc version 8.3.0 (Debian 8.3.0-2) ) #1 SMP Wed Mar 20 18:04:34 UTC 2019

(3) In kernel.log for RN104 on 6.10.0 Hotfix2 Update method: Beta

Apr 22 01:31:13 nasname kernel: Linux version 4.4.163.armada.1 (root@blocks) (gcc version 4.6.4 (Marvell GCC release 20160226-c4af733b 64K MAXPAGESIZE ALIGN) ) #1 SMP Wed Mar 20 18:11:54 UTC 2019

In the kernel.log of (3) the string "debian" is not even found at all.

So, to my understanding the processor family and the update method make the difference. Any comments?

Kind regards

Thanks for the hint, @StephenB, I'm downloading the logs on a regular base, anyways.
