Troubleshooting when NAS won't power on

I closed my business in 2016, accessing the readyNASNV+ infrequently. I need to access now and it simply will not power on. I am using a known-good power cord in a known-good outlet. I know it's an older unit now, but I'd like some troubleshooting help. Is it foolish to wonder if the same drives could be accessed in a drobo?

They can't be migrated to a drobo.

The issue sounds like the power supply.  It is possible to replace it - you can find PSUs for ~$75.  That does require you do to some dissassembly/reassembly though.  There are instructions here: https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS-COMMON/Replacing%20the%20PSU.pdf

If it is in fact the power supply, this is your cheapest option.  But I would test the disks first (connecting them to a Windows PC with SATA or a USB adapter/dock).  It would be annoying to replace the PSU and then discover that the hard drives had also failed.  You can use Lifeguard for Western Digital, and Seatools for Seagate.

Another option would be to purchased a used NV+, and migrate your disks to it.  You'd need to be careful to get a compatible model, and anything you purchase would be at least 9 years old.  They would be more expensive than changing the PSU, and sometimes folks here have found that used ReadyNAS don't actually work.

If you don't need the NAS, but just want to get the data off of it, then you might try a data recovery service.  Alternatively, you could connect the disks (at the same time) to a Windows PC, and use R-Studio RAID recovery software.
