Unexpected disk remove/add events

My Readnas duo has recently logged some unexpected disk remove and add events.

I have three incidents like this in the last month or so. On the first there was both a disk remove and a disk add event but I had not touched the hardware.
I powered off and re-seated the disks, then verified them. All was well.

Since then, two more Disk Add events with no corresponding removes. The words are "Disk add event occurred on SATA channel 2" (always Chanel 2).

Disks are Seagate ST2000DL003-9V mirrored pair. SMART details are all fine. Only interesting co-incidence is that these occur 1-2 days after a disk full xxgb left log record.

Ideas?

What disk firmware is reported in the SMART stats?

Re: Unexpected disk remove/add events

Ok, thanks for the info. I've now read all the associated threads and it does seem I have the issue as described; though I'm puzzled as to why it took so long to appear.

Going to be a complicated fix given it affects both drives in the duo, which is my primary NAS.

Anyway, thanks in particular for quick replies and solid info.
