WD Hard Drive- Gold vs Red?
I am upgrading my NAS and I am considering either WD Gold or WD Red hard drives. Why would I choose the gold over the red or the red over the gold?
Model: RN424| ReadyNAS 424 4-Bay with up to 40 TB total storage

Re: WD Hard Drive- Gold vs Red?
The WDC Red drives are NAS-purposed consumer class and have 3 year warranties. They run at 5400 rpm. The WDC Gold drives are enterprise class and have 5 year warranties. They run at 7200 rpm.
The Golds have longer warranties and outperform the Reds. They are also more expensive.
Both will work well in your NAS. I've gone with the less expensive Reds myself.
