WD RED PRO 6TB WD6001FFWX vs WD6002FFWX

Hi all,

anyone any experience with the WD6002FFWX (as oppososed to WD6001FFWX which is on the compatibility list)?

We can no longer order the WD6001FFWX and I want to know if the WD6002FFWX is a supported alternative.

According to this sheet http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/SpecSheet/ENG/2879-800022.pdf

the transfer rate has slightly increase (from 214 to 226MB/s) and power consumption has reduced.

Regards,

Bart

Hello bartw,

Error404 shared his experience. Thanks to to him.

We usually use the HCL but some users still use ones that are not listed. It's basically it may or may not work thing. Moreover, we always strongly recommend to have full backup of the data.

Hi JennC

I do believe the WD6002FFWX should be added to the recommended list of drives as this is a direct replacement for the WD6001FFWX.
As bartw stated you cannot buy the WD6001FFWX anymore

Hello error404,

There is a plan of releasing HNCL instead of HCL which I believe is much better. Hopefully, this will push through.

Meaning a list of incompatible drives?  I agree that would be better.
