readynas rnd4000 v3

hello,

I bought a new nas , i have an older one , so i know how to install them.

But with this one (rnd4000) i doesnt seem to work.

  • If i launch raidar 6.5 it will show my old nas but not the new one
  • If i look in network folder i see it and if i typ the ip adress i will have to enter the login password. And the default doesn’t seem to work (admin/password) (admin/netgear1)
  • I also did the factory reset but did nothing

Could you help me with this ?

This might be a really old firmware. Try admin/infrant1

thnx's 4 replying ,

i mananged to do the factory reset, and the login/pass is admin/netgear1.

next problem was that i cant acces the nas in my netwerk map, cant open on this pc, so i downloaded the drivers for this nas (RAIDiator-Sparc-4.1.16) and installed it and after install and reboot i cant find it in my raidar (the other nas was still there) so again factory reset and im trying (RAIDiator-arm-5.3.13).

i didn't had the problem with this older nas (ready nas 102) it was almost plug and play.

i installed it, now in my windows explorer map i see the pc symbol and i click on it and its works just as an external hdd map , ass it should be.

but this model with the 4bays .... im getting mad , can't onderstand what im doing wrong....

If your NAS accepted 4.1.16, then you have the original sparc-based platform (called a v1 here).  Note that the v3 label is present on many v1 NAS.

5.3.13 is for an arm-based platform.  It won't work if you try use it on a sparc-based NAS.  If you succeeded in installing it, you'd just brick it.

Your RND4000 was discontinued in 2011.  It only supports SMB1 - which has been deprecrated in Windows 10 and MacOS.  If you are using Windows 10, then you need to enable SMB1 in "turn windows features on or off".  If you are using MacOS, you will need to enable AFP.

Another restriction is that your NAS is limited to 2 TB drives or smaller.  It is both older and slower than your RN102.
