reestablishing SMB-Connections lasts up to 30 minutes

Hi,
I've a 314 NAS (mounted as drive M:\) behind a HP-Procurve-Switch, for some reasons (ransomwareprotection) I disconnect that certain switch port by snmp-command - thats no problem.
Later then I reestablish that connection - switching that certain switch-port on.
Then it lasts between 10 and 30 minutes, till I can access the NAS by drive-Letter which is M:\.
Interesting is, that after switching the Procurve-Switchport on, I can access that NAS Admin-Page immediatelly, but why not the drive M: which is connected via SMB to my Windows system.
Whats the reason for that behaviour and/or is there configuration to improve - shorten that time afer switching port on an ability to connect to M:\ - the situation ?

Hi,
I installed the latest Firmeware (6.7.4.) on my NAS some days ago and now I thought to test whether something has changed relating to my problem.
Indeed, when I disable my Switch-Port (where NAS is connected to) and then (re-) enable that Switch-Port (HP-Procurve-Switch, disabling/enabling via SNMP-Command) then it lasts 10 seconds!!!! until I have a SMB-Connection to my NAS.
Amazing, thank you for your effort spent in my case.

Odd. Can you reproduce the issue then send in your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?

Re: reestablishing SMB-Connections lasts up to 30 minutes
Hi,
as far as I can see in the logs there is nothing in particular - I jotted the time down when I did my tests 10:32 and at that time there no log-entries
Is there a deeper inview into the logs ??
Where to upload or sent the logs too ??

Re: reestablishing SMB-Connections lasts up to 30 minutes
Perhaps try disabling local master browser functionality:
# echo "local master = no" > /etc/frontview/samba/smb.conf.overrides

Re: reestablishing SMB-Connections lasts up to 30 minutes
Hi,
I tried that (putty and then entered your commands) and checked by using cat on that file smb.conf.overrides. It was put in there.
But nothing changes.
Than I tried to reboot my NAS to put parameters in work - the same problem - reboot finished at 15:31 (could access via Putty and/or Web) but couldnt connect via UNC-Path or drive-letter which was still stored.
But then at 15:39 I could connect to UNC-Share, everything works fine.
Changed but the problem persists because I cant and dont wanna wait up to 10 minutes (in this case, who knows, how this time vary).

Re: reestablishing SMB-Connections lasts up to 30 minutes
Hi,
I'm still looking how to improve that situation - I want to enable my HP-Procurve-Switch-Port (e.g. Port 12), where my ReadNas is connected to, and then I want to access the Readynas SMB-Share.
Immediatelly after enabling the switch-port 12 I can access Readynas via Telnet, Web but not via SMB - therefore I've at least to wait 10 minutes.
How to decrease that time, I've to wait for SMB-Services ?? E.g. if thats 30 sec or 2 minutes ok, but not 10 or more minutes!

Re: reestablishing SMB-Connections lasts up to 30 minutes
Are you just reconnecting the ethernet with the NAS running, or are you restarting the NAS?

Re: reestablishing SMB-Connections lasts up to 30 minutes
Hi,
I want to disconnect and reconnect my NAS by disabling/enabling my HP-Procurve-Switches Port by SNMP.
Till now, it was not my plan to reboot NAS after enabling my Procurve.
But as I learned to know, after a NAS reboot it lasts minutes (I would say 5 - 10 min) too till I can access the NAS via SMB (http and telnet access work instandly after a reboot), looks like as it is the same issue rebooting or switching that Procurve-Port on.

Re: reestablishing SMB-Connections lasts up to 30 minutes
Hi,
I've only one 314-NAs, can someone out there try if it is possible to replicate my problem ??
Delay of possibility to establish SMB-Connection after disconnection/reconnection of ethernet or after rebooting the NAS.
