ReadyNAS NV+ v2: Adding a new disk issue

Have three WD Red 3TB drives running XRAID2 (redundant).  Provides 5.4TB of space.  Added a 4th 3TB WD Red, but not adding to the overall space.    Checking the status, the log reports new disk detected and I have left for over a week, but overall space does not increase.   Any suggestions on what I can try?

Details:

Model:  Ready NAS NV+ V2
Firmware:  RAIDiator 5.3.11
3 existing Drives: WD red WD30EFRX-68AX9N0 2794 GB
New Drive: WD red WD30EFRX-68EUZN0 2794 GB

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ v2: Adding a new disk issue

Perhaps try removing the new drive and reinserting it (with the NAS running).

Yup ... tried that.  Rebooted and then tried again. Unfortunatly, didn't fix the issue.

Still at bit of a loss as to what to try next.

Thanks

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ v2: Adding a new disk issue

Perhaps wait a day or so, and see if someone from Netgear wants to take a look (or look at logs).

One option of course is to do a factory reset, but that requires rebuilding the NAS and restoring the data.

You could also try a couple more reboots, and see if the process starts.

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ v2: Adding a new disk issue

Hello jabbott,

If you have enabled email alerts maybe you will also be able to get more details about the expansion. See article:

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20981/related/1

Another option is to backup all the files then factory reset to get fresh install with all the 4 disks.

You may also try contacting support center at 1-888-NETGEAR (1-888-638-4327) where they will get an L3 remote in, this however requires a per incident support contract.

Have 3x WD Red 3TB

Added 1x WD Red 4TB

Volume expansion seems to have failed:  Wed Oct 14 07:42:25 PDT 2015

Then had a power outage tonight: Thu Oct 15 00:42:33 PDT 2015

What would cause the failure? It was not switched off or interrupted... ? Is there any more information I can get from log files?

Hello CholoUniverse,

Welcome to the community!

What's the model number, RAID level and current firmware version?
