In the nighthawk app your router is the first device mine logs into and you can see all the connected devices. I also have 2) X6S Tri Band WiFi extenders, set as access points. The night Hawk app sees the extenders and you can log into each extender, from the app. But when trying to view there connected devices the app errors out it says cannot complete task try again later. My Router is the Netgear X10

Assuming you have current firmware in place on the EX8000 (-> EX8000 Support - Downloads) this might be related to the problem seen in the community that the new/current Nighthawk App does support several newish extenders - as long as these are in Wireless Extender mode, not in AP mode.
