Genie App says remote access not supported for my router?

I have an R9000 X10 and in many documents it says that Genie should be able to support remote access for this router.  Yet, the Genie app (latest version) on iPhone says my router does not support remote management via Genie.

 

Anyone know any better?

Hi @dereksoderquist,

 

Yes, the WNDR3400v2 does support the NETGEAR Genie app but is not among the supported devices for the Remote Login feature. The link below indicates the supported models.

Never mind.  Uninstalled Genie, rebooted phone and router...reinstalled Genie.  Totally different experience.  : )

What do you mean by remote access? Beyond WiFi range? I am only capable of accessing Router through Genie App with my Note 5(Android 7.0) while in the WiFi range!!!!!!

By remote I just mean remote via Genie.  The "remote access" url also works, but I was trying to make the Genie app work right from outside of my network.  And of course I wanted to add the Alexa skill for Netgear.  Very cool.  : )

Remote doesn't necessary mean access through WiFi!!! Can you access your Router without WiFi or way from home location?

Yep.  I never said remote means being on wifi.    Yes, I can use the Genie app when NOT on wifi.  Yes, I can use remote administration also from outside of network.

Hi,

 

I am also experiencing the same error. I have uninstalled the Genie iOS App and reinstalled, Router Firmware version 

v1.1.00.26 and Geniw Version 3.1.28 but same problem.

 

I enabled Remote Management in the Advanced Setup section but when I try and enable Remote Access in Genie

I get the message This router does not support remote access which is not true.

 

Any assistance will be most appreciated.

Hi Dexter, thanks for the reply. I did fill in the model no and I noticed it kept getting erased in the field box provided.

The remote login feature via the NETGEAR Genie app (which is not supported by your device) is different from the remote management option. The link below may help out.

My genie app says thsi also and I have no remote access at all... Does my router actually support remote access? Or am I just fighting a losing battle? Thank you for your hwlp?

Thanks Dexter, but I am unable to use this feature due to it not being supported on this model of router. Unless you have another solution I am stuck !

Same issue. Enabled remote management. Enables dynamic dns. Not joy on the remote access. What is preventing genie from recognizing that my model router has the remote access feature unless it doesn't through genie.

The Remote Management feature is different from the Remote Login feature of the NETGEAR Genie app/program.

1. What is the firmware version of the router?

2. have you tried resetting the router?

3. If you are setting up remote login via Genie, have you tried using another device?

I am still havingthe problem. Rather than trouble shooting it would be nice for Netgear to reproduce the problem and provide definite solution versus a try this and that approach. Thank you

When I try to enable remote access I get "Does not support Remote Access".  What I am I doing wrong?

I was able to turn on the remote access through the regular web management interface, and I was also able to use the provided remote access https address in my web browser. So my router does support remote access, but it seems that the "genie" version isn't able to.

I'm having the exact same problem with my nightgown 2350. I tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it and nothing changed.
