Genie bypass account not working on all devices

I can login into my by pass account on all devices and bypass parental controls.

However on my Galaxy S7 it says Im logged in as ... but the parental controls are still active as wont let me see various blocked sites even though I have set the bypass account to minimal.

It works fine on my Galaxy S3 and  windows 10 and XP

Tried Support again.

Had to create test account and try with that then tried on a diferent phone. Eventually he gave me the Beta version of Genie which works fine on my device.

Should have cut to the chase and given me that at the start especially since he admitted that lots of other users have the same problem and the Beta version is the fix.

Told me it will be rolled out in the next few days.

Thanks Netgear for fixing your own product.

What device are you using? Do you use the same os on the S7 as the S3? Maybe try to power cycle the phone.

Hi, thanks for reply.
Not sure what you mean by device. I'm using an S7-edge which uses marshmallow as the OS, which is different to what the S2 uses.

Which netgear device? Your S3 is using kitkat?

I would think so but I'm not home at the moment so can't check. I think my router is R7000, the one with three antennas

I see. Better submit a case to support. Might be an issue with that marshmallow os.

Thanks but Im way past their stupid 90 day limit plus theres no way Im going to shell out support for a fault with Genie which should be tested/updated to work with all devices.

What's the firmware version installed on your router?

What's the NETGEAR Genie version installed on your phone and on the computer?

Firmware is V1.0.5.70_1.1.91  

 

Version 2.4.26 on PC and 2.4.34 on phone

Update

They said "I will have one of my colleagues call you on the time frame that you set. Please keep your phone line open. "

 

They arranged to ring me at a certain time, now it is almost an hour later & I'm still waiting!

Needless to say I am dissapointed with support. This has also been a total waste of my time having to stay in waiting for you to call me.

Thanks Elaine.

He rang me 70 minutes after the scheduled time. Unfortunately I didnt get to speak to him as his number was witheld and my phone rejects witheld numbers.

He provided an alternative number for me to ring him but that number is expensive for me to call (0844......) and Netgear makes a profit from my call for every second I'm talking on that number!

Ok now got a UK number to call.

I have been on the phone for 17 minutes being passed from one person to another (apart from verfying my details several times I have not spoken to anyone who could help me find a solution to my case). I am currently on hold again and am hanging up the call.

I didnt know before making the call that I would have to set aside at least half an hour for a call to support.

Hi,

I came across this thread as I was having the same/similar issue.

I tried creating a new Test bypass account and logged in using the new credentials on a device (not the one with the issue). It still didn't rectify the problem. So I deleted all my bypass accounts.

In the end I got past it by : jumping on my windows PC and signing into Netgear Genie. I then went into Patent controls and changed the access from Bypass to 'Default Router Setting'

This was the only way to get around it as all my IOS and Android devices were indicating that i had to remove the bypass account first. Even though the MacBook and Smart TV and network switch never had a bypass set up on them.

Hope this helps someone.

Try contacting Netgear to get the Beta although I was told by them that it would be released in a few weeks
